Christian Vision

Trust Mission

Our mission encapsulates both what we do as a Trust every day and the ambition we have for our whole community. Our mission embraces the character, purpose and future direction of our trust. It defines what we do and why we do it:

The repetition of the word ‘extraordinary’ conveys our ambition to be bold and out of the ordinary in our thinking, in the education we provide and in the expectations we have for pupils and staff to be the best they can be now and in the future. Our guiding purpose is to provide...

Trust Vision

The mission is supported by our vision statement, which sets out how this mission is realised:

Through an extraordinary education, we empower pupils to be life-long learners and see their limitless potential. Respectful relationships and an unwavering focus on discovering talents and interests enable pupils to flourish and be extraordinary people. Together, we spark aspiration and drive achievement so that pupils contribute positively to society and to their extraordinary futures in an ever-changing world.

How is the Trust's vision expressed at St Peter's?

The Trust's vision holds the same depth of passion that God had for Peter;

Through an extraordinary education, GOD empowered PETER to be a life-long learner and see HIS limitless potential. Respectful relationships and an unwavering focus on discovering HIS talents and interests enabled HIM to flourish and be an extraordinary person. GOD sparked aspiration and achievement so that PETER contributed positively to society and to HIS extraordinary future in an ever-changing world.

How do we support our children to live out our vision every day?

Through a reflective Collective Worship programme, an ambitious curriculum and a bespoke Extraordinary Me (MEE - My Extraordinary Education) offer, we provide our children with opportunities to try new things, to make mistakes so that they can explore how they are extraordinary.

We use the phrase...

Peter was an ordinary fisherman, but he did extraordinary things and lived an extraordinary life.

Through the extraordinary things that we do, we can be beacons of hope, and make our world a wonderful place.

St. Peter's School

St Peter's is part of The Rivers Church of England Multi Academy Trust. The Trust is made up of Church schools and Community Schools. Our Vision of 'An extraordinary education for every pupil' is shared by all schools in the Rivers Family.

At St Peter's we welcome children and families who hold Christian beliefs, those who follow religions other than Christianity and those who do not follow any religion. We pride ourselves on being a fully inclusive school and community.

As a church school, our worship is based around Christianity, however our worship is always invitational, meaning that children and adults are welcome to join prayers or take time for contemplation and reflection.

We promote equality, diversity and inclusion by teaching children about other faiths and celebrating similarities and differences.  Teaching about religious and cultural diversity supports our pupils to become respecful and tolorant members of society.

When we talk about the Christian belief of being loved as God's children, we also reference being loved by our parents/carers and significant people in our lives. When we talk about learning from the teachings of Jesus, we also reference learning from each other and the important people with whom we connect and share experiences.

Our St. Peter stained glass window is in the school entrance to welcome everyone.

  • The name Peter means ‘rock’ and from the moment Jesus met Peter he knew that Peter would be the rock of the Church.
  • We are told of various missionary trips which Peter undertook in order to preach about Jesus.

The Keys of St. Peter

In the Gospel of Matthew (16:19) Jesus says to Peter, "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on Earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on Earth shall be loosed in heaven."

The keys of St. Peter can be found everywhere in our school.  We wear them proudly on our jumpers and cardigans.

Celebrating the Feast of St. Peter - 29th June

Every year we celebrate St. Peter's feast day.  We join together in church singing our favourite hymns and reflecting on Peter's friendship with Jesus and all the amazing things he did to spread the good news of how we should care, share and tell the truth.  We also invite all our family and friends to a picnic on the field.
